Fairy kitten

This is the fairy kitten from 'A Day For Daisies'. Such a cute image and for dog lovers there is a cute sausage dog with wings. I've had both the images for a long time but I noticed they are still available. The kitty body is plain so you can add stripes or patches as you wish. Artistic licence is a wonderful thing so my kitty can have a pink nose and ears.

Butterfly challenge 190 Fairy time again -  The yellow paper has butterflies which I thought would be fun as your challenge usually features butterflies.

 I was trying to get a better pic of the glass shapes I have stuck on this card but when they are clear it's very hard. Some are square and some are round. The wreath die is old and reminds me of stag horns, I seem to have thrown away the package it came it but possibly kaisercraft.

a gloomy day

I use a small red canon camera for my pics and the gold card has picked up the reflection from the camera and my hands. I did make a second card with a larger bauble and no gold card which is in a previous post.

December is the start of Summer here in Tasmania and whilst mainland Australia has extreme temps we don't do too badly here. When we have a really hot day we usually get a storm to cool things down . Today is one of those days and the storm has taken out the power . I had  started cooking a beef rendang for dinner but that will be put on hold until tomorrow as I have to go out this afternoon  . Maybe a  quick chicken stir fry if the power is back on by 8pm.

Sometimes simple is best. I love the white and gold ( but not too much gold ) . The dies were still out from making other cards so another quick card came together. Are you like me I find making festive cards a breeze but anything else and  I struggle to come up with ideas.

 a quick card in the making- Die cut trees, house and a sentiment- the snow mound is embossed with snowflakes. The house and one tree raised on sticky pads the sentiment cut out 3 times and stacked. I added a few sparkles to some of the snowflakes in the background paper.  I made a few of these as they came out better than expected.

Simon Says Stamps -   Monday challenge .Use dies in DieCember - The little house die is from Sizzix , the sentiment is a die from Hunky Dory . I don't have the packet for the trees so unsure of origin.

Australian Birds

 

 Last weekend I went to a market in a local village hall where a stall was selling lots of new unused red rubber stamps on wooden blocks  for just $1. This is a large stamp 14cm across from Krafty Lady ,  The photo is a bit disappointing colourwise as the enamel dots are green to match the gumtree leaves. I tried mounting the panel on coloured cardstock to add a bit of interest, but it just did not work. Less is more on the occasion.

Considering the stamps were just $1 why did I only buy 2 . The second stamp is a large sunflower. I had a look on E-bay and the stamps were listed as $16 to $20 -  so a real bargain.

Lilac time

 

Who still has some of these - I won this set many years ago in a blog challenge.  I guess postage was a lot cheaper then.  Anyhow I dug them out and made this little card. I thought I would add some glitter and just as I had finished, I dropped the container, glitter all over my black hoodie and trackpants - what a mess. I thought about stripping off to my undies but my craft space is at the front of the house with only a white picket fence for privacy. I think the glitter will be here for some time.

Creative Knockouts challenge 504 - 2 or more papers -  I used 3 papers and despite the accident with the glitter I think the card is cute so I will make a few more for my charity box.

 

relax it's your birthday

Allsorts challenge 746 -  Masculine . or A/G

 How do you make a drab image and bird come to life. It's not easy , I stamped this image 4 times and tried adding a little colour to the bird  greys and blues  , I tried greys and browns - I also tried adding some gold pen to foliage to make bullrush shapes which I managed to smudge .  I think this one came out ok with lots of inking around the edges.

 

Flowers from the garden

I love a crafty bargain - I bought this stamp ( from Colorado crafts ) unopened from my local charity shop for $1 - it measures 9cm tall so it's a good size. Coloured with markers.

 Lots of soft colours on this card . The butterfly and the design on the white card were embossed in gold. Coloured with marker  pens.

Autumn colours

 I love all the colours in this card but it does look a bit flat even though the plants are on sticky pads. I've added lots of tiny gold dots around the circles but it seems to be missing something. Any suggestions ?

Double D challenge Fall plaids - I love a good plaid - the shirt I'm wearing today is blue plaid .

birthday cake

 Lots of dies in making this card - the cake die is a cheapie from Darice called 'birthday cake' which I cut twice and layered to make  a tall cake. The cake stand is actually the base for a birdcage from Kaisercraft and the balloons and words are from a die cutting magazine.It's a bit hard to see but the balloons say 4 you.

Peach and gray

I need a pale grey paper for the background but could only fine this piece of dark grey cardstock .I drew a few lines with a black fine liner pen then added white ink to soften the whole thing.

Well this was fun- I used a few markers and scribbled some lines in greys and black , the uneven lines messed with my head, so I used a die to cut a straight panel . I don't remember where the dies for the snowflakes or the banner came from but with a little silver card it was a quick card to make.

So sweet bear

 This red rubber stamp is very old but such a cutie , I bring it out now and then. As usual with me I coloured the image then wondered if I had any paper to match for the background - in  the end I made the plaid background so at least I know the colours are right.

What happened to August

just a couple of cards I made in August

the little birds all have hearts for wings raised on sticky pads.

 In June and July I thought I might just be getting back to card making. This is something I really enjoy and I have to be honest it's probably more than 20 years since I started and my cards haven't improved an awful lot but I still like to create.

So what happened to August- I have no idea - but today is September 1st so let's hope I don't let it pass in blur..

Have a great weekend - Spring is knocking on the door here in Tasmania and the garden needs some TLC  , the windows need cleaning so a busy weekend ahead. Come Monday morning I will try and get a card made ( that is what I tell myself ) lets see  what happens .

Blue blooms

 

Artistic licence is a wonderful thing which means I can have blue flowers . I used my ProMarkers which I love plus a tombow grey pen for the shadowing - I did go a bit over the top with that. An old but well used and loved Altenew stamp.

 The Butterfly challenge 185 - add some flowers along with your butterfly. 

I wanted to bring some blue into this card to tie in with the blue heart - I'm not convinced the dark blue pearls or the dark banner work but still a pretty card.

Christmas in July

This was the first pic I took last night and the top of the ornament looks red which it isn't. I had to take another snap this morning which shows a silver top/.

 So here is my card this morning -      a simple bauble- some silver card- embossed corners using a folder which came with a magazine, just a hint of pink.

Summer is just around the corner

 I also used Kaisercraft Woodgrain embossing folder as well as the Roses above.

Summer is not just around the corner - wishful thinking on my part as we are in the middle of winter but I keep going back to the butterflies, they make me happy . I kept changing my mind with this card - the vellum was on then off  , the square behind the butterfly was white/ then white and embossed -it just seemed too bright so I went with the soft blue and embossed.

Be happy

"Be Happy " I was happy making this sweet little card until it came to stamping the sentiment- I wanted it to be red but looking through my stamp pads I didn't have one that was a real deep red . 

Lets Create and Craft -  challenge 197 -add flowers . 

I used a paper template for the shape which I think came from a magazine freebie as I don't have a die.The sentiment with matching die is from Altenew and is quite old.

 I  didn't want the leaves to be a solid green , I thought it might make the card too heavy so I stamped the white dies with  some text but that didn't show up so well against the white which is why I then edged the leaves with green. Does that make any sense - who knows.

In the pink with a hint of green

I used this embossing fold to create the dark pink panel .  I gave it a very gentle rub with an emery board to reveal some of the white core of the card.

Our old house is beginning to look smarter . It's a bit noisy at the moment as we are having a new roof , no more leaks - yay. Any other work which we have to do and there is a lot will be down to us. it's Winter here in Tasmania but as soon as the weather improves I will be up the ladder painting the exterior.

Lemons for lemonade

 My white strips are a bit uneven but I don't think it came out too bad. I've seen other people do this pattern with thin washi tape and then inked over the top to reveal the white when the washi tape is removed. That seems like a lot of ink to me so I used white card on a green card base.

My personal favourite is a good non alcoholic ginger beer with slices or wedges of fresh lime . 

Christmas kisses

 A slightly vintage feel with brown mats and layers stamped with brown ink -soft colours are lovely but not so good to take  a pic of.

I have some cute christmas mice so maybe I will have another stab at this challenge.

Birthday butterfly

 All these colours made me think of Summer which is  a long way off here in Tasmania. We usually have lots of frost with blue sky and sunshine in the Winter but so far we have had very heavy rain and strong winds. I am not a happy bunny.

 these were both made by cutting out sections from a 12x12 sheet called Time to Flourish from Graphic45. I love the top card with the added stamp image at the bottom but not so much the second card. The flower and some of the leaves are raised on sticky pads.

 I am loving the tulip stamps and dies from the magazine die-cutting essentials.

die cut roses and a bad buy

these pearl drops say the colour is snow and it was just what I wanted to bring a little light into this very flat colour. As you can see below perfect little white pearls.

As the drops dried they became almost invisible - not so much snow as ice.

 

I added some grey inks to  a piece of white card, die cut the roses and the sentiment. The stencil colour was a bit darker than expected - I may line up the stencil again and go over it with white.

 The dark paper is the reverse of the leaf paper - a mix n match of dies -  a quick make for a male card.
