Friendship

A happy Boxing Day ,are you all full of festive goodies. I was very good yesterday and this morning I went for a walk to banish those extra calories.
365 Cards- day 296 - Imagine this- Mistletoe - I went with the colours instead of a Christmas feel.I've had the embossed paper for such a long time I've no idea where it came from. The sentiment is from Stampin Up. The flower is scalloped lace which I've gathered ,a crochet flower courtesy of my crafty friend Merry and a button from my stash.

weekend away

Hello peeps, I hope you all had a good weekend .Steve and I went to see the Eagles in concert on Friday evening ,as always they gave a polished performance .The downside is that we had to go to Melbourne, like any large city it is dirty and overcrowded.I was surprised at how many times we were asked for money by beggars.

December has been a very musical month as we have already seen Blondie ( Debbie Harry was dressed for a supermarket shop ,I thought her tartan shopping trolley was just off stage). She was a big disappointment .The Pretenders were fantastic and at 59 Chrissie Hynde can still rock it. Our favourite band Little Red were very good and if you need a quick Christmas pressie their new CD is very good.

All buttoned up for Christmas

A few years ago I received a Christmas card with this foam reindeer on the front .The card was thrown away but I kept this little chap to re use. I took the layers apart leaving the whole image to play with. I didn't want a solid image so I curled up a few strands of cotton and laid them across my card before loading the reindeer with ink and stamping. I quite like the effect so if your kids have any foam shapes laying around the house grab them.

My finished card is for Stamping Vacation -challenge - No punches -I've used lots of matting in burgundy, gold and brown before sticking to a burgundy card base. The flourish under the sentiment is sewn in gold thread.

pretty pockets

I hope you all had a good weekend ,things were pretty quite at this end.My card making seems almost non existent at the moment .I came back from my holiday in New Zealand feeling refreshed and energetic and all this energy has been used to do some serious house cleaning .I hope to be back to my crafty self very soon. 365 Cards -day 284 -Pretty Pockets -make a card with two pockets . The patterned paper is just gift wrap . A couple of tags and a large chipboard button .I used a tutorial from splitcoast stampers for the basic idea.

Grey and Lilac

Earlier this week I dug out all the Christmas cards I made in July and August (this was me being organised ). At the time I really liked all my creations but a few months down the line and I was horrified , the cards are just awful . I've tried adding bits of lace and other embellishments as I don't have time to make new ones. Some of them have gone into the bin ,maybe 2 or 3 will be OK. I need to post the overseas ones today ,I just hope they get there in time.

This is a new one for my in-laws and I've kept it very simple ,I just hope they love the colour combo as much as I do.

my second attempt

Last week I made card using this framed sentiment and it didn't really work so I've had another attempt . I think it's a very calm , peaceful card ,my husband says it looks like a grave stone .

Dear Santa in Red

Southern Girls - challenge 7 -It's heating up -use heat-embossing,wax,burning. I've used embossing on the border at the bottom. I've used the same image and frames as listed in the previous post . I've used water colours again ,the background paper is vellum.

Dear Santa

Color Throwdown - challenge 21 - Use the above colours for your project.
The image came from Inger which I've had since 2009 and never used .I've used water colours for a change ,I like the translucent effect. The frame for the sentiment is from Scrap-a-licious ,at the moment these frames are my favourite embellishments.

A touch of christmas.

I said yesterday I would try to post a few cards today ,my efforts have not been very rewarding .My mind seems to be thinking about other things, having said that here are my efforts. I don't think the white centre works at all on this card and the angel should be blue or white .I do love the tag ,if I can find another angel and paint the centre square it might be OK.

Again I love the tag but mixing the old style tag with the modern Christmas Trees just doesn't work.

I had hoped the pretty paper would do all the work ,to me this card looks unfinished despite the embellishments.
I may not have inspired you with great ideas and layouts but at least you won't make the same mistakes I did .Back to the craft room for me ,I think some chocolate may be eaten today.

Maybe Thursday will be a better day ?

I was hoping to show you at least 3 cards today , I spent the afternoon in my craft room trying to be creative. The first image I used water colour pencils and way too much water which I smudged outside the lines ,the second image was a cat I coloured grey and didn't like . For my third attempt I made a Christmas tree which was too big for the card stock I wanted to use.Instead of cards I will leave you a little rhyme I remember from my childhood and before decimalisation occurred .

Christmas is coming ,the goose is getting fat
Please put a penny in the old mans hat
If you haven't got a penny a ha'penny will do
If you haven't got a ha'penny then God Bless you.

A ha'penny being a half penny .
